About

A map is only as good as its surveyors

Guotushi (国土师 — "territorial planner") exists for one reason: China's territorial spatial planning system produces world-class public resources, yet they remain scattered across ministries, data centers, and Chinese-language communities that international researchers rarely reach. This directory surveys that landscape in plain English, so you spend your time reading sources instead of finding them.

Selection criteria

How resources earn a listing

  • Authority — official portals of ministries and national institutions, or long-established professional communities.
  • Utility — full texts, working data services, or genuinely useful tools; not marketing brochures.
  • Maintenance — platforms that are still updated; dead or stale services are delisted.
  • Access — free access whenever possible; paywalled tools are labeled honestly.

Independence & disclaimers

  • Every listing is described in our own words after hands-on review.
  • External sites belong to their owners; a listing is not an endorsement of their content.
  • No affiliation with any government body is implied. Official sources are labeled simply as sources.
  • Descriptions of Chinese institutions reflect our best understanding; the official portal is always the final word.
